Bukit Merah Laketown Resort

Bukit Merah Laketown Resort
is well know for it’s waterpark, although I think it has other goodies to offer too such as Ecopark, and Orang Utan Island. I have been to the Waterpark, Ecopark and Orang Utan Island.

It's such interesting place! I went with my close friends mus, min n yan.. Actually before we go to Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, we went to Lost World of Tambun, Ipoh. I've been there twice.. haha.. Then we decide to go to Bukit Merah Laketown Resort.

This is a happening place with various of activities, especially during a festive season. At one corner, we have some clowns playing some nift tricks. At another corner, there were some naughty children playing at a water fountain.

Tickets are price at RM21 for adult, and RM16 for children. It's for waterpark price. If your height is below 90cm, then you are in luck, you get free entry!

Me and my friends takes Waterpark Combo Package includes the following:
1 entry to Waterpark, Ecopark, Orang Utan Island, Chairlift or Skycycle Ride. Tickets are price at RM30.00 and RM29.00 for children above 90cm. Below 90cm is free.

The main attraction of the park - the actual Waterpark.

Let’s check out some of the fun attractions there. This one is called the Giant Wet Bubble.

Basically you hike to the top of the bubble with the help of a rope. Whoever gets to the top first has the advantage to shake the others off from the bubble… This is one of the major attractions there and a long queue is expected.

River rides, suitable for the young and the old. Usually you ride on a floating tube - which you can hire from the counter at RM10 a tube.

This one I think is a little too fast for me… I better find something not so thrilling. Ah, the activity pool should be nice :).

Activity pool, with a rain simulator.

Dare or not?

ECOPARK, SAY HELLO TO NATURE!

Welcome to Mother Nature's favourite holiday attraction - the Bukit Merah Laketown Ecopark. A 3-acre eco-friendly sanctuary, the park features three large enclosures the Bird Park, Reptile Park and Tropical Trek, where rare indigenous and exotic bird, reptile, primate and mammal species roam freely in their natural habitat.

The Ecopark is a complete research, breeding, education and tourism facility that promotes a "Say Hello to Nature" concept where visitors are encouraged to interact with the animals in their natural habitat.

Animal Show
Come see intelligent exotic animals respond to their keeper's commands. Showtimes: 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm.

Skycycle
Hand pedal our colorful Skycycle and take a unique 200m mid-air tour across the tropical rainforest.Take in the breathtaking view and a take closer look inside the Pet's Park corner.

Another way to explore the native rainforest, this time through pedal power! Another first for Malaysia, this attraction is an elevated monorail through the tree canopy that allows riders to have a birds eye view of the surrounds and deer enclosure whilst pedaling your own special car

Bird Park
Experience macaws, cockatoos, spoonbills, swans, bullbuls and starlings feeding from the palm of your hands, in lush green surroundings.

Tropical Trek
Mingle with friendly playful mammals, squirrel monkeys, otters, capuchin and gibbons.

Reptile Park
Walk alongside iguanas, monitor lizards, tortoises, cobras, vipers, mangrove snakes, owl and brahminy kites. Or take a memorable snapshot with giant pythons!

Pets Park
Feed and pet some small and domesticated mammals at the Pet's Park, deer, rabbits, guinea pig, hamster, while mice, rats, sheep goat. You can also view some noctumal mammals in their semi natural habitat, e.g. sugar glider, slow loris, etc.

Feeding Talk
Watch friendly otters perform tricks as you interact with them and feed them in their natural surroundings.

Orang Utan Island

Tucked away on the 35-acre Pulau Orang Utan, Orang Utan Island is the world's first and only 5-acre rehabilitation and preservation facility where Orang Utans roam free. The unique island serves as a breeding sanctuary as well as conservation, research and education center to better understand this endangered species.

Venture from the main jetty at Marina Village and wait for the lake Cruiser to ferry us to the Orang Utan Island. It's just a 10-minute boat ride across, and boats leave every half hours.

At the island, we were taken through a 100-meter steel walkthrough 'cage tunnel' to come up close and personal with these primates. In a twist, we were enclosed in a 'cage' as us observe the Orang Utans roaming free in their natural habitats. Two baby Orang Utans are the stars of the island. We've been able to interact with them nin the tunnel.

Way to main jetty at Marina Village.

Actually the pictures at Waterpark i was take at hot-screensaver.com because i was kept my camera inside the locker.. We felt so excited to played there!

(Center of Bukit Merah Lake Town Resort)

For those who are interested to get to Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, it’s pretty easy if you use the North-South Highway. Just make sure you don’t miss the Bukit Merah Lake Town exit. The journey to the park is approximately an hour from Ipoh, and 35 minutes from the Penang Bridge.

Kellie's Castle, Batu Gajah

I've been there. What's so special about it? It's rich building material and it's wondrous architecture. Oh, and its history too, of cos!

My family and I stumbled by accident from a trip home from Ipoh (Perak). We went to Ipoh from our family day at Lost World of Tambun and on our way back, took a wrong turning that lead us through the more scenic coastal roads instead of to the PLUS North-South Highway...

Kellie's Castle, Batu Gajah (Perak) is built on a low hill. There's a river separating the Castle from the main roads and there was a bridge that needs to be crossed before hiking up (there's a man made fo
otpath) the low hill to reach the Castle grounds.

Entrance fee is RM4 per adult. There are special rates for students and children but I couldn't be bothered to take note of those as I wasn't eligible for those special rates.

Kellie's Castle belongs to William Kellie Smith, one of Malaya's (before Malaysia declared Independence, the country's called Malaya) earlier settler, is an extension to his bungalow called "Kellas House". The Castle is built using bricks and well-planned ventilation while his bungalow was just a big yellow house (lying in ruins now from the WWII) with no known vent
ilation.

It is believed that the Castle was built because Kellie's wife, Agnes, claimed that Kellas House was way too hot to live in during the afternoons, hence the "Love Castle Project".

Kellie's Castle was never finished because Kellie died before his "Project" could be completed.

There were to be a bucket elevator (the first of it's kind in Malaya), a rooftop party/entertainment area and also a tennis court. Because the Castle was never completed up to those stage, the elevator shaft looks like a "drop and you will die" square hole (as it runs up to six storeys high) and the party/entertainment area coupled with the tennis court looks like a helipad.

Kellie and Agnes had two kids, Helen and Anthony. Their rooms in the Castle is located next to the Master Bedroom
and there's an "emergency exit stairway" in Helen's room.

While I was there, there were two Guest Rooms, a Wine Cellar, a Dining Room, an Alter Room, a Living Room and an Entertainment Room. There are numerous stairways, one main one which was real wide and several spiral ones that were very narrow.

Outside of the Castle, a Horse Stable was seen. There were two stalls for Kellie's horses.

Because of the Castle's building, I think "Kellas House" was turned into the servants quarter. The Kitchen, the Rooms and the Worker's Medical Rooms were all spotted in "Kellas House".

There was a Tunnel in between "Kellas House" and "Kellie's Castle". It looks like a well due to its round shape. This tunnel leads to an Indian Temple some 500 meters from the Castle but the Government people closed it down for security reasons.

It is rumored that Kellie's Castle is haunted because of all these tragedies (numerous of his workers died from what was believed to be the Yellow Fever Epidemic) while constructing the Castle as well as the untimely death of Kellie.

Some says that the "Mysterious Corridors" (the corridors of the Castle on the Ground Floor where all the M
ain Rooms are and the First Floor where all the family member's Bedrooms are) is still walked by the spirit of William Kellie. Some visitors have claimed that they feel "watched" when they stand on the grounds of the Castle. Some says they've seen "shadows and flashes" from the Spirit World while they were there.

I did not encounter s
uch things. Maybe it was because I was as happy as a bunny in spring time when I was there, witnessing and experiencing the rich history of my country. Or maybe it was because I'm so wrapped up in exploring the Castle that I failed to notice these rumored paranormal stuff...

Either way, Kellie's C
astle is a must see for every historical building enthusiasts. It's pretty out of the way but it's worth the trip.

(p.s. No one knows for sure what happened to Agnes and the kids after Kellie's death but it's believed that Agnes sold the Castle to someone after her husband passed on and returned to Scotland)

>>Here i show u guys some of my pictures at Kellie's Castle

(At the "Mysterious Corridors")

(On the top of kellie's castle r0of - haha my brother was scared...)
